Farm Update.

IMG_3140

Wow! Here we are on the eve of Spring and the high is 35 and the wind is howling!  And looking out my window it is snowing sideways.

Thank goodness our greenhouse is bursting with life.

I fed the first of our barley sprouts to the chickens and rabbits today.  They loved it, and so did the goats!  I would have made a point of getting some pictures, but I was busy with this little surprise!

She certainly seems to appreciate the heat lamp today.

Onyx had twins during the night, we lost the little boy.  He was all black with a white diamond on his forehead.  He looked more like a holstein calf than a kid goat.  It broke my heart to have to bury him.  Onyx had shown absolutely no sign of being even remotely ready to kid – no pregnant belly even!  Trust me, I will not forget this little fact about this doe next year.

Now to see just how many kids Leela has!  Because if Onyx had twins . . . Leela may have quadruplets! (Yikes.)
